The 5 Days Uganda primates safari with Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and Chimpanzee tracking tour, a special primate expedition that involves observing behaviors of chimpanzees and mountain gorillas in the wild. This epic trip covers trekking mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and chimpanzees in Kibale National Park.

On a search for chimpanzees in Kibale National Park, expect to come across other diverse primates such as the red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys. Bwindi is a UNESCO Heritage Site, home to 120 mammals including gorillas with 20 fully habituated gorilla groups, chimpanzees, blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys and elephants, etc.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up & set off to Kibale Forest National Park

Your safari guide in Uganda will collect you from the hotel in Kampala/Entebbe and today, you will have a road transfer to Kibale National Park. This includes driving via Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal route, a journey likely to take you between 5 and 6 hours. En-route journey includes great sights of the lush Matiri Forest, tea plantations and Crater Lakes plus the legendary Rwenzori Mountain ranges. On arrival at Fort Portal, you will take lunch break one of the best restaurants and later, continue up to the lodge.

Day 2: Kibale Forest Park chimpanzee tracking & Bigodi walk

Wake up early in the morning to enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, you will gather at Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for you to get cleared by the park officials before assembling for briefing. Kibale NP is a rainforest protected area set in Kabarole, Western Uganda and the park supports 13 species of primates.

Enjoy a face-to-face with chimp community for 60 minutes and later, begin walking back to the Kanyanchu or meet your driver guide for transfer back to the lodge. In the after, drive to Bigodi Wetland to explore its wonders including primates, birds and floral species.

Day 3: Road transfer from Kibale to Bwindi

A road trip from Kibale to Bwindi begins early after breakfast and expect to spend between 5 and 6 hours driving via Kasese-Queen Elizabeth NP. At Ishasha area at Queen Elizabeth N/Park, a brief game drive will be enjoyed at Ishasha where the rare tree climbing lions live. This is also an area where topis and other endemic species freely room. After a bush lunch, you will depart for Bwindi to check in at the comfortable lodge or camp.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking

Meet the park official at Buhoma area or any trailhead in Bwindi and should be after breakfast. The park official present takes you on briefing session where you get to know the safety measure/guidelines to observe when trekking gorillas. The gorilla families will also be allocated to all groups of visitors consisting of 8 guests and park guides accompany you on a search for these apes.

Trekking through Bwindi Forest to see gorillas takes 2-6 hours and get your camera ready for photography for 60 minutes which also includes observing how these primates behave. After, begin trekking back and you will be transferred to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, there is an alternative of visiting the Batwa community or spend the rest of the time at the lodge.

Day 5: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

After your heavy breakfast, check out and today marks the end of your stay at Bwindi. Navigate via Mbarara and at Igongo Cultural Centre, you will take lunch break then proceed to the Equator crossing at Kayabwe. From here, continue to Kampala/Entebbe and today brings to an end the 5 days Gorillas and Chimpanzee tracking tour.
