The 3 days Uganda gorillas tour & Lake Bunyonyi safari takes you on a complete immersion into Bwindi’s lush rainforest to see a family of mountain gorillas. The key highlights on this package include gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and a canoe ride using a traditional canoe navigating through the scenic Lake Bunyonyi.

Bwindi, a UNESCO Heritage Site was declared as a Uganda park in 1991 and currently, it sits on the land area coverage of 331sq.km. Bwindi’s diverse faunal species account for 120 mammal species which include more than 459 mountain gorillas. These large apes live peacefully with other species including the red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, blue monkeys, colobus monkeys and more than 350 species of birds.

Lake Bunyonyi, a stunning freshwater lake lies in Kabale and features 29 islands. This freshwater Lake is recorded as Uganda’s deepest Lake, also most popular as the place of many little birds. Unlike other freshwater lakes, Lake Bunyonyi is ideal for canoeing and swimming.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: From Kampala city, drive via Mbarara to Bwindi

A delicious cup of tea/coffee be enjoyed at the comfort of your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe and after, set off for Bwindi. It will be long day traveling from Kampala to the Southwestern part of Uganda to explore Bwindi National Park. The entire journey may cover 8-9 hours but expect an enriching journey featuring a stopover at the Equator crossing, watch locals in Ankole area as they carry on with their daily activities and at Igongo Cultural Centre, you will have a lunch break.

Connect from Igongo to the final destination –Bwindi and you will check in at the lodge. At the lodge, have great time interacting with each other and also organize yourself for the following adventure –gorilla trekking.

Day 2; Gorilla trekking & Lake Bunyonyi

At leisure, you will enjoy a delicious breakfast at the lodge around Buhoma or any sector as directed by your gorilla permit. Still at the park offices, the park guides and gorilla families will be allocated to you. You will be leaving the briefing area at 8:00am for actual search for Bwindi gorillas in the wild. Trekking with Bwindi Impenetrable Forest gorillas takes between 2 and 6 hours, this covers an hour for taking pictures and observing how these apes behave.

Any body gestures displayed will be interpreted by an experienced guide accompanying you. After the special interaction with a group of these unique apes, you will begin walking back while spotting some other fauna and flora.

At the lodge, get some rest and a meal then check out. From Bwindi, your next destination will be Lake Bunyonyi. At Lake Bunyonyi, expect a sunset cruise which comes with some refreshments or opt for swimming.

Day 3: Canoe ride & depart

Embark on a memorable canoe ride using a traditional canoe to explore one of the finest islands. Your morning canoe ride also comes with sighting of some birds and scenic surrounding areas of Lake Bunyonyi. After, get back and your driver guide will take you back to Kampala/Entebbe.
