The 3 days gorilla trekking Rwanda encompasses the thrilling gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park. Located in Northwestern Rwanda, Volcanoes NP is undoubtedly the most accessible mountain gorilla park in Africa and takes you between 2 and 3 hours to drive from the heart of Kigali capital.
Within Volcanoes National Park Ruhengeri, there are 12 fully habituated gorilla groups to be visited and each takes up to only 8 guests. The park was officially recognized as Rwanda park in 1925 and its boundaries stretch up to 160sq.km, featuring the bamboo forest and rainforest.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali city to Volcanoes National Park Musanze (road transfer)
Get up early to be served a delicious breakfast and after, you will begin your city excursion through Kigali. The Kigali city tour includes visiting iconic sites such as Kigali memorial and local markets, especially Kimironko market.
Leave Kigali for Volcanoes NP, 2-3 hours’ drive via beautiful countryside. On getting at Volcanoes Park, check in at the pre-booked accommodation facility for a night stay.

Day 2: Explore Rwanda gorillas with an expert and tour Iby’Iwacu village
A delicious breakfast will be provided to you while still at the lodge and you connect to Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking regulations. The morning briefing session also includes allocation of gorilla groups and park ranger guide. The long trek through the bamboo forest to see gorillas takes 2-6 hours with guarantee of one hour for photography and a close encounter with these apes.
Begin trekking back to the lodge and chill, later, you will pay a visit to Iby’Iwacu Village. This gets you the best of a cultural experience of Rwanda’s distinct traditions, cultures and accompanied by unique dances and music performances.
