Day 1: Kigali-Kinigi, hike Karisimbi
Early in the morning after having a heavy breakfast, your driver guide will take you through a short briefing about this hiking trip. You will leave Kigali for Volcanoes National Park, driving for 2-3 hours via the Musanze route. Get to the park early and you will be expected at Kinigi for briefing on actual Karisimbi volcano hike from the park expert.
You will be led by an experienced guide and today, you will cover 3700m elevation. This is about 4 hours’ hike and en-route, keep eyes on diversity of flora and avifaunal species. Upon arrival at the 3700m altitude, enjoy incredible views of the surrounding scenic areas and you will have the rest of the evening at the camping site.
Day 2: Descend from Karisimbi summits to Kinigi, transfer to Kigali
A hot cup of tea/coffee to be enjoyed early morning and after, ascend farther to the final summits of Karisimbi Volcano. Capture great views of the surrounding areas and after, begin descending back to where you began your adventure the previous day. From Kinigi, board your tourist vehicle and you will make your journey back to Kigali city which marks the end of 2 days hiking excursion in Volcanoes NP.
