The 4 Days Bwindi Gorillas & Golden monkeys in Mgahinga involves exploring in depth about the daily behaviors of both the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys while in their natural habitat. This primate adventure package includes a visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking in Rushaga/Nkuringo and Mgahinga NP for you to track golden monkeys.
Bwindi and Mgahinga were all declared as Uganda parks in 1991. At Bwindi Impenetrable NP, there are varied faunal and floral species. Bwindi protects diversity of fauna including mountain gorillas and these survive together with several other mammals including side-striped jackals, black fronted duikers, bush pigs, buffaloes, elephants, giant forest hogs and yellow-backed duikers.
Mgahinga supports more than 76 species of mammals and they include buffaloes, bushbucks, elephants, golden monkeys, mountain gorillas, bush pigs and giant forest hogs. This 33.7sq.km park also protects a checklist of about 180 bird species and these include Kivu ground thrush, malachite sunbird, African paradise flycatchers, Double-collared sunbird, Grey capped warblers, Black kite,. Yellow-billed kite, Alpine chat and others.

Day 1: Pick up & drive for 8-9 hours to Bwindi
Leave Kampala/Entebbe for Bwindi to see the rare mountain gorillas in the wild. Your long day road trip will run for 8-9 hours and en-route, you will make stopovers at the Equator to take pictures while standing between the Northern and Southern hemispheres at the Equator crossing. There is also a chance to perform water experiment and after, you will drive to Igongo or hotel in Mbarara city.
After the leisurely lunch, proceed up to the lodge in Rushaga region in the Southern side of Bwindi. Have adequate time to relax, refresh and also put together all the essentials to be used the following the day on actual gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2: Rushaga gorilla trekking adventure
After breakfast, gather at the Rushaga sector for briefing about gorilla trekking safety measures. You will be assigned to one of the Rushaga gorilla families (Nshongi, Rwigi, Kutu, Mucunguzi, Busingye, Kahungye, Bikingi, Bweza and Mishaya). The park guide from Bwindi will be present to accompany you through the memorable 2-6 hours trek to see mountain gorillas.
At a distance of 7-8m, observe how mountain gorillas behave and this magical moment includes photography. After great interaction with a family of gorillas, get back and a gorilla trekking certificate be awarded to you. From Rushaga briefing area, connect to the lodge for short relaxation and later, transfer to Mgahinga NP for a night stay at the pre-booked lodge.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking Mgahinga
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and after, assemble at Ntebeko to get briefed about golden monkey tracking regulations. Mgahinga NP official will allocate a guide to lead you on actual search for a troop of these endangered species. The 2-4 hour Mgahinga golden monkey trek includes of up close and personal moment with a troop of these primates and taking pictures. Begin trekking back and have great time at the lodge and in the evening, you may consider paying a visit at the nearby local community.

Day 4: Departure
Exit your lodge in Mgahinga Gorilla N/Park and you will be transferred up to Kampala/Entebbe city. Today marks the end of a special 4-day Bwindi gorillas and golden monkeys tour in Uganda.
