Queen Elizabeth National Park is a scenic savanna park, Uganda’s 2nd largest park spanning up to 1978sq.km. This vast protected area features extensive savanna grassland, wetlands, lakes and rainforests. Within Queen Elizabeth Park, there are over 600 species of birds, mammals such as hippos, lions, elephants, cape buffaloes, leopards, and varied antelopes.

At Queen Elizabeth NP, you will enjoy the best of a guided game drive and launch cruise excursion. Bwindi Impenetrable N. Park is most popular for gorilla trekking and this is done from the 4 sectors; Ruhija, Rushaga, Buhoma or Nkuringo.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Road transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth Park, enjoy boat cruise

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel and after, meet the assigned safari guide in Uganda. Beginning your road trip from Kampala/Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park through Masaka-Mbarara route takes between 7 and 8 hours’ drive.

Driving through the Masaka-Mbarara route is advantages in that you have a chance to make a stopover at the Equator crossing. Continue up to the park located in Kasese and en-route, you will be enjoying stunning view of the countryside vast banana and tea plantations.

Arrive at Queen Elizabeth N/Park where you will check in at the safari lodge for relaxation. Later, proceed to Kazinga channel, a natural channel linking Lake Edward to Lake George.

Enjoy the best 2-hour launch or boat cruise on Kazinga while spotting diversity of faunal and avifaunal species including the Nile crocodiles, hippos and water birds plus some cape buffaloes as they roam along the river banks. Following a launch cruise, you will retreat and have a leisurely time at the lodge your tour operator pre-booked for you.

Day 2: Game drive & road trip to Bwindi relax at the lodge

Wake up early and enjoy your cup of tea or coffee, after, head off with a guide to explore Kasenyi plains wonders. A game drive through this game track gets you exposed to myriad of wildlife including cape buffaloes, elephants, leopards, lions, and many antelope families.

From Kasenyi, drive back to the lodge to enjoy an early lunch. After, you will proceed to Bwindi, driving via Ishasha sector the best place to find tree climbing lions and topis in Queen Elizabeth NP.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking experience

Enjoy a delicious cup of tea or coffee and after, you will have briefing about guidelines for gorilla trekking. Briefing and allocation of park guides and gorilla families will be conducted by the park official at Bwindi Impenetrable NP offices. At 8:00am, be ready for actual trek through Bwindi forest with an experienced guide and expect to spend about 2-6 hours. The long day trek comes with an hour of a magical encounter with mountain gorillas in the wild and photography.

A relaxed evening will be enjoyed at the lodge once you have returned from gorilla trekking adventure. Or opt to pay a visit to the Batwa community where you will have deep understanding of the Batwa pygmies, their unique traditions, cultures and later, enjoy cultural and traditional dances.

Day 4: Depart for Kampala/Entebbe

Depart from Bwindi for Kampala/Entebbe, 8-9 hours’ drive which includes en-route lunch and a stopover at the Equator or Mpambire Drum makers in Mpigi.
